When you join the Army, you’re signing up to serve your country and protect its citizens. But before you can do that, you need to make sure you meet the fitness standards for joining the Army.
There are four main physical fitness tests that you’ll need to take: the APFT, the CFT, the Height and Weight standards, and the PFT.
The APFT is the Army Physical Fitness Test. It’s a three-event test that measures your muscular strength, endurance, and cardiovascular conditioning. You’ll need to score at least 60 points in each event to pass.
The CFT is the Combat Fitness Test. It’s a six-event test that measures your anaerobic capacity, agility, muscular strength, and endurance. You’ll need to score at least 180 points to pass.
The Height and Weight standards are exactly what they sound like – standards that you must meet in order to be considered for enlistment. If you are over or under the height or weight requirements, you may still be able to enlist with a waiver.
Finally, the PFT is the Physical Fitness Test. This is a six-event test that measures your aerobic capacity, muscular strength, and endurance. You’ll need to score at least 216 points to pass.
The Army’s Physical Fitness Test
In order to join the Army, you must meet certain fitness standards. These standards are measured by the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). The APFT must be taken within 6 months prior to enlistment, and consists of three events: 2 minutes of push-ups, 2 minutes of sit-ups, and a 2-mile run. You must score a minimum of 60 points in each event to pass the APFT.
The Army’s body fat Standards
The Army has very specific standards for body fat percentage, which vary depending on age and gender. Soldiers are required to maintain a certain level of fitness, and part of that is keeping their body fat percentage within the acceptable range.
For men aged 17-20, the acceptable range is 14-17%. For men aged 21-27, the acceptable range is 15-19%. For men aged 28-39, the acceptable range is 16-20%. And for men aged 40 and over, the acceptable range is 17-21%.
For women aged 17-20, the acceptable range is 20-24%. For women aged 21-27, the acceptable range is 21-25%. For women aged 28-39, the acceptable range is 22-26%. And for women aged 40 and over, the acceptable range is 23-27%.
The Army also has different standards for recruits and active duty soldiers. Recruits are allowed to have a higher body fat percentage because they will be undergoing intense physical training. Once they have completed basic training and are on active duty, they must meet the lower standards.
The Army’s Height and Weight Standards
The Army has strict height and weight standards that all soldiers must meet. The standards are different for men and women, and they vary depending on your age and job.
If you are overweight or obese, you will be required to lose weight until you meet the standards. You will be given a specific amount of time to lose the weight, and you will be monitored throughout the process. If you are unable to meet the standards, you may be discharged from the Army.

Health requirements for joining the Army include:

* Having a Body Mass Index (BMI) within the acceptable range.
* Being able to pass the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT).
The Army’s Age Standards
The Army has different age standards for active duty, the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.
For active duty, you must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. Citizen or national. If you have completed a term of service in another military branch, you may be eligible for early entry.
The Army Reserve has different age and education requirements. To join, you must be at least 17 years old (with parental consent), a U.S. Citizen or national, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. If you have prior military service, you may be eligible for early entry.
The Army National Guard has different requirements depending on which state you wish to serve in. Generally, you must be at least 17 years old (with parental consent), a U.S. Citizen or national, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some states also require that you complete basic training before enlisting in the National Guard.
The Army’s Education Standards
All individuals who wish to join the Army must meet the minimum education standards set forth by the Army. These standards vary slightly depending on the age and position of the applicant, but all applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
The Army also has physical fitness standards that applicants must meet prior to enlistment. There are three main components to the Army’s physical fitness standards:

-The Body Composition Program (BCP) is designed to ensure that all soldiers maintain a healthy body weight and composition. All soldiers are required to weigh-in at least once per month, and those who exceed certain body fat percentage thresholds may be required to take additional measures, such as completing a physical activity plan or attending nutrition counseling.
-The Alternate Cardio Testing Option (ACTO) is available for those applicants who cannot complete the standard two-mile run due to a medical condition or disability. The ACTO consists of a 1.5 mile walk/run or 2,000 meter row. Applicants must score at least 50 points in order to pass.
The Army’s Citizenship Standards
The Army’s standards for citizenship are embodied in the Soldier’s Creed, which states that a Soldier is someone who demonstrates loyalty to the Constitution and the Army, who takes pride in serving their country, and who is willing to put the needs of others before their own. The Army also stresses the importance of being physically fit, having mental and emotional toughness, and being honorable in all aspects of life.

The Army also requires that you exhibit a high level of integrity. This means that you must be trustworthy and have a strong sense of right and wrong. The Army’s Miscellaneous Standards
There are a few miscellaneous standards that you must also meet in order to join the Army. These include having a clean criminal record, being of moral character, and passing a drug test. In addition, you must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
